LUKE HARDY

LUKE HARDYPhotographer Luke Hardy roamed the world with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees for many years, and during that time was an avid amateur photographer, recording places, people and animals in extraordinary situations. He has seen corners of the world closed off to most observers.

Luke’s sell out 2007 exhibition SNOWFORMS at Dank Street Depot depicted simian, human and daruma (buddha) figures amidst the three rotating states of nature, as represented by ice, water and vapour.

BERKELEY EDITIONS - PRINTMAKERS EXTRAORDINAIRE

Berkeley Editions Berkeley Editions publish Fine Art Limited Editions for the local and international markets and they are featured in leading galleries, institutions, and major corporate collections all around the world. Run by Robyn Berkeley who has a close working relationship with some of Australia’s leading artists, including Margaret Olley, Charles Blackman, Ray Crook, Gary Shead, Martin Sharp and Tim Storrier

A Limited Edition Print is derived from an image produced from a block, a plate, a stone, on zinc, copper or some similar surface on which the artist has worked closely with a print maker or master printer. Unlike paintings or drawings, prints exist in multiples. The total number of impressions an artist decides to make for any one image is called an edition.
Each impression in an edition is numbered and personally signed by the artist.

An image may be based on an original painting, 'after an oil', or the artist (as in the case of Arthur Boyd) may paint "Marquette's" specifically for prints. The artist may also create an image directly onto the plates, depending upon the chosen medium.
